Police trace Matovu’s last hours from Rujumbura bar to death scene

Police in Kampala have been reconstructing the events that led to the death of Afrigo Band leader Moses Matovu, with a joint deployment of police and military personnel closing off parts of Kibuli during the exercise. Investigators said Tusiime demonstrated how the altercation began and how Matovu fell after being punched, while officers also sought to establish whether Nsamba was present and involved. Police said statements were recorded both in writing and on video, and that the exercise was intended to test the suspects’ accounts against physical evidence at the scene.

Kampala Metropolitan Police said the reconstruction has already taken place in parts of Kibuli and Nansana as officers gather exhibits and build the case. Police did not disclose full details, saying further updates would come as investigations continue. Both suspects were taken back to Natete Police Station after the exercise.

Residents and local leaders interviewed in the report offered a different angle, saying Nsamba was known in the area and had previously worked for Matovu.
