Police in Kasese District are investigating an overnight assault on Bugoye Sub-County Police Station that left one suspected attacker dead and four other people arrested, according to Watchdog Uganda. The incident was reported at around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Bugoye Sub-County.

The report says about six people, armed with pangas, approached the station and allegedly tried to attack the officer on duty and take his firearm. Police said the officer resisted, fired at the assailants and wounded one suspect in the leg. That person fled but was later found dead a short distance from the station. The deceased’s identity had not yet been confirmed.

Police named four arrested suspects as Irumba Simon, Kiiza Abson, Kadama George and Baluku Lenaxi. Officers also recovered a panga at the scene, while the body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary for a postmortem examination. Investigators are still working to establish the full circumstances of the raid and to identify any suspects who remain at large.

More broadly, incidents involving attacks on police facilities often prompt security alerts and public appeals for information. In this case, police urged residents to report suspicious activity and said they remain alert to threats targeting police stations.
