Police Investigate Death of 25-Year-Old Man in Rubanda

Police in Rubanda District are investigating the death of Dennis Mujuni, a 25-year-old man also known as Sadam, whose body was found in an abandoned house in Hamurwa Town Council. The case was reported by Nile Post, which said the body was discovered near his home and that police have opened inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death.

According to the report, Mujuni was a resident of Hamurwa Village in Hamurwa Ward. Kigezi police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said Mujuni had earlier told his elder brother that he was upset after family members, including his mother, allegedly accused him of selling a goat and using the money alone. Tumushime said Mujuni also allegedly warned that he might take his own life if the harassment continued.

Police said Mujuni was last seen walking from home toward Hamurwa Town Council on September 24. His body was later found on September 26 at about 4:00 p.m. in an old abandoned house around 100 metres from his home. Officers visited the scene and began investigations.

Beyond the immediate case, the police comments also pointed to the importance of seeking help during personal distress. In general, Ugandan police frequently use such incidents to encourage people facing emotional or family problems to talk to trusted relatives, local leaders or counsellors rather than acting alone.
