What the report says

Police in Kassanda District are investigating a suspected nighttime attack on a family in Kasawo West, Kiganda Sub-county, that left one woman dead and her husband and son badly injured. The incident, reported by Nile Post, happened at the home of Kaweesa Arnold, where the family also ran a bar.

The deceased was identified as Rosette, Kaweesa’s wife. Her husband and their son, Akankwasa Joshua, were taken to health facilities for treatment after being found with head injuries. Police said the family had served two customers at the bar on Saturday evening, and a disagreement reportedly developed over an unpaid balance. The two men allegedly left after threatening Rosette, according to investigators.

The following morning, a visitor who had planned to travel with Rosette to buy matooke reportedly found her body on the veranda and the house open. Police also said the home showed signs of a struggle, and a bag belonging to Rosette was found outside the house with cash missing from it. Authorities have said they are looking into whether the two customers, one of whom was known by face and the other identified only as Sanira, were involved.

Investigators from the Kassanda District Police Command visited the scene, recorded statements and began a homicide inquiry. Police have asked the public to share any information that could help trace the suspects, while the case remains under investigation.
