What the report says

Police in Kasese District are searching for a man identified as Isingoma after a fight that left Samson Bwambale dead, according to the Nile Post. The incident was reported in Muhokya Town Council, in Mutukula Cell, on Sunday night, August 9, 2026, after the two men had attended a burial in Mahango Sub-county.

The police account, attributed to Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, says the dispute began over food and later turned physical as the men left the burial. During the struggle, Bwambale was reportedly hit on the head, fell, and was later kicked in the stomach. He lost consciousness and was taken to St Paul’s Hospital in Kasese Municipality, where he died shortly afterward.

Bwambale was identified as a casual worker from Rutooke Cell in Muhokya Ward. Police said Isingoma, who is also described as a casual worker from Kinyabindi Cell in the same town council, fled after the incident. Officers have visited the scene, collected evidence and started taking witness statements as they continue efforts to locate the suspect.

The case adds to broader concern about how minor disputes can escalate into fatal violence, especially in social gatherings. Police say investigations are ongoing and have appealed to the public for information that could help lead to an arrest.
