Police Dismisses Report of Imminent Cadet Recruitment

What the report says
The Uganda Police Force has rejected reports that it is preparing to recruit cadets soon, saying no vacancy advert has been issued and no such exercise has been announced. Speaking at the weekly media briefing on Monday, Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said any legitimate recruitment would begin with an official advertisement inviting applications, and that this had not happened.
According to Nile Post, the clarification came after a report by New Vision suggested a possible recruitment exercise, which may have raised expectations among people hoping to apply. Rusoke said the force was not recruiting cadets at present and stressed that the public should rely on official police communication rather than circulating claims or messages.
The article places the statement against the backdrop of Police’s most recent regular intake, which was advertised in March 2025 for probationary police constables. That process drew tens of thousands of applications, with selected recruits later going through training and passing out in June 2026, according to the report. Nile Post also noted that Police separately recruited Election Special Police Constables in October 2025 for temporary election-related duties.
The clarification matters because recruitment notices often attract broad public interest in Uganda, especially when the force signals staffing shortages or expansion needs. However, Nile Post reports that those staffing remarks do not amount to a new cadet recruitment drive.
