Playstation Network down, as tens of thousands of players queue to play Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls newly-launched beta - Eurogamer.net

What the report says
Eurogamer reported that PlayStation Network users were experiencing widespread connection problems, with outage reports rising sharply as players attempted to access online services. According to the site, PlayStation communities, including Reddit, were filling with posts from users unable to connect, while Down Detector data also showed a spike in PSN outage reports beginning in the morning.
The disruption arrived as fighting game fans were trying to join the newly launched open beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Eurogamer said it had contacted Sony for information on the cause of the outage and when normal service might resume, but noted that, at the time of publication, there had been no official explanation on PlayStation’s social media accounts, including its Japanese X account.
Eurogamer also pointed to SteamDB figures as a sign of interest in the Marvel Tokon beta, reporting a peak of about 22,087 concurrent players on Steam earlier in the day before numbers fell. For comparison, it cited Street Fighter 6’s Steam peaks, while noting that Street Fighter 6 is a paid release and that Marvel Tokon’s open beta had not yet reached the weekend period.
The issue matters because PSN access is central to online play, account services and multiplayer betas on PlayStation consoles. Based on Eurogamer’s report, affected users were left waiting for Sony to confirm the problem and provide a timeline for a fix.
