BBC Sport Football has launched a new online prediction game called Match of the Day Predictor, a rebranded version of its earlier World Cup Predictor format for the club season. The feature is designed as a weekly football quiz for users to test knowledge by forecasting results from six selected fixtures spanning domestic and European competitions.

According to BBC Sport, players can join at any point during the season, take part in the current round, and begin building a streak of consecutive successful weeks. Each round opens on Friday, with the deadline set by the kickoff time of the first listed match. Once predictions are submitted, users cannot edit them, and they can also view what other participants think about each match.

The game is available to UK users only. BBC Sport says the format includes simple winner-or-draw selections for league matches, while knockout ties offer only winner choices. The streak system resets to zero if a round is missed, which gives the game an ongoing, weekly element.

The launch sits within BBC Sport’s wider football quiz offering and reflects the broadcaster’s continued use of interactive digital games to keep audiences engaged through the season.
