BBC Sport reports that Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has agreed a new four-year contract, extending his stay with the Premier League club until 2030. The 26-year-old’s previous deal was set to run out next summer, but he has committed to remain at City under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Foden, a City academy product, made his senior debut at 17 under Pep Guardiola and has since made 369 appearances for the club. According to the BBC, his honours with City include six Premier League titles, one Champions League and two FA Cups. He is among the club’s most decorated current players, alongside John Stones and Bernardo Silva.

The deal comes during a period of change at City after Guardiola ended a 10-year spell in charge in May. Foden has worked with Maresca before, when the Italian was part of Guardiola’s staff during City’s 2022-23 Treble-winning season. In comments reported by the BBC, Foden said committing to City was highly significant to him and that he was looking forward to working with Maresca again.

The BBC also noted that Foden’s attacking output has fallen from the peak he reached after the Treble season, when he recorded 27 goals and 12 assists in all competitions. Last season he had seven goals and five assists in 33 Premier League matches and was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad in May after an uneven campaign.
