Peterborough deny making illegal approach for Savage

What the report says
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has rejected accusations from Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince that the League One club made an illegal approach for manager Robbie Savage. The row centers on the process that led to Savage leaving Forest Green and taking charge at Peterborough on 2 October, after Luke Williams departed and Peterborough were seeking a new manager.
Vince told BBC Radio Gloucestershire that Forest Green initially refused permission for Peterborough to speak to Savage, but later relented after what he described as direct contact with the manager. He said Peterborough’s handling of the situation showed little respect for Savage’s position and amounted to an improper approach. He also said the club was put in a difficult position and eventually agreed to let Savage go.
MacAnthony responded on X by saying the appointment process was “100% correct and proper” and followed the rules. He also wished Forest Green well in finding a replacement. The BBC report says Forest Green have not confirmed whether they have contacted the Football Association. The dispute comes as Savage, 51, has already overseen a league win for Peterborough, who beat Leicester City 3-1 on Saturday and now host Burton Albion in his first home league match in charge.
