Peter Mungoma appointed Next Media deputy CEO and chief of radio

What the report says
Former Capital Radio Group chief executive Peter Jackson Mungoma has been appointed Deputy Group CEO and Chief of Radio at Next Media after Capital Radio Group was integrated into the broader media company, according to Nile Post. The announcement was made during Next Media Talks, where Group CEO Kin Kariisa introduced Mungoma to staff and formally welcomed him to the organization.
Nile Post reports that Mungoma brings more than 20 years of experience across media, broadcasting, telecommunications, consulting, renewable energy and automotive sectors. He previously led Capital Radio Group from 2014, overseeing operations during a period of change in the media sector and focusing on audience growth, commercial development, partnerships and corporate governance. The report also says he has held senior leadership and advisory roles across East Africa and has academic and professional training from Makerere University, Harvard Business School and the Radio Advertising Bureau.
In his remarks, Mungoma described the integration of Capital Radio Group and Next Media as an opportunity to combine strengths rather than simply merge offices or workflows. He said the radio group contributes audience reach and heritage, while Next Media adds technology, digital platforms and production capacity. The new role places him in support of the expanded group’s leadership, with responsibilities linked to team strengthening, strategic partnerships, performance frameworks and sustainable growth.
The appointment is significant because it reflects a wider consolidation of radio, television, digital and production assets under Next Media, a shift that may affect how the company organizes its broadcasting business going forward.
