Parrott makes move to Real Betis from AZ Alkmaar

What the report says
Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott has completed a transfer from AZ Alkmaar to Real Betis, according to statements from both clubs reported by BBC Sport Football. The deal was described earlier in the week as being close to 20 million euros, and Parrott has signed a five-year contract. The move takes the 24-year-old from the Dutch Eredivisie to the Spanish club after a productive spell in the Netherlands.
BBC Sport reported that Parrott joined AZ in July 2024 after a season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam, following his development at Tottenham. His first campaign at AZ included a strong scoring run, though a knee ligament injury interrupted that form. He finished the league season with 16 goals in 28 matches and also contributed significantly for Ireland.
The report said Parrott played a key role in Republic of Ireland’s push for World Cup play-off qualification, including a two-goal display against Portugal and a hat-trick with a late winner away to Hungary. Real Betis, who finished fifth in La Liga and qualified for the Champions League, add a forward who has been linked with a number of clubs, including West Ham. The transfer underlines Betis’ intent to strengthen ahead of European competition.
