Parliament Website Still Lists Former MPs as Current Legislators

What the report says
Nile Post reports that Uganda’s Parliament website is still showing some former MPs as current legislators in its online members’ directory, even though the 12th Parliament began on May 25, 2026 after new lawmakers were sworn in earlier that month. The issue was identified in the Parliament database, which continued to place former MPs such as Ronald Balimwezo, Joyce Bagala and Dr Abed Bwanika under the National Unity Platform section labeled “Current Members of Parliament.”
According to the report, the entries still include former constituency and party details, which could confuse people looking for information on who currently represents different areas. The problem appears not only in individual profiles but also in party-membership pages that use the same “Current Members of Parliament” heading while showing outdated names.
Parliament’s Acting Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Grace Gidudu, told Nile Post the website should already have been updated and suggested an older database may have been uploaded by mistake. She said she would investigate the matter. The publication notes that Parliament’s composition page itself reflects the new House, making the mismatch in the directory an issue of public-record accuracy.
The report matters because Parliament’s website is used by citizens, journalists, researchers and public institutions as an official source for legislative information. Outdated records can make it harder to verify current representatives and track party and constituency changes after elections.
