Palestinian killed, several injured in Israeli pogrom in occupied West Bank

What the report says
Al Jazeera reported that a Palestinian man was killed and 16 others wounded during attacks by Israeli settlers on people harvesting olives in the northern occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the dead man as Ali Hassan Yasser al-Bazzari, 44, from Burqa, northwest of Nablus. The incident took place near Burqa, west of Nablus, and Palestinians said the settlers acted with protection from Israeli forces.
According to the report, some of the injured were taken to hospitals in Tulkarem and Nablus. The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its teams treated five people at the scene, including two with gunshot wounds and three who were beaten. Wafa, citing local sources, also said Israeli forces assaulted ambulance crews trying to reach the wounded and briefly detained three paramedics and a volunteer.
Al Jazeera said the violence is part of a wider increase in attacks during the olive harvest season, a period that is normally socially and economically important for Palestinian families. The report added that access to farmland has become more difficult because of Israeli restrictions and settler violence. As background, tensions in the occupied West Bank have risen sharply in recent years, with repeated clashes involving settlers, Israeli forces and Palestinian residents.
