Crystal Palace have seen a verbal offer for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara turned down, according to BBC Sport Football. The proposed deal was reported to be worth more than £35m, a figure that would have put the Senegal international among Palace’s most expensive signings if completed.

Camara, 22, joined Monaco from Metz in 2024 for a reported fee of 15m euros and has already established himself as a regular for Senegal, with 49 senior appearances to his name. BBC Sport noted that he was also involved for Monaco in their win at Anfield against Liverpool last weekend, underlining his current role in the French side’s squad.

The rejected bid comes as Palace continue to reshape their team in the transfer market. The club have added several players this summer, including striker Evann Guessand, winger Dwight McNeil, defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oscar Mingueza. The arrivals have come under new manager Pierre Sage, who replaced Oliver Glasner during the summer.

With pre-season nearing its end, Palace are due to play Freiburg before beginning their Premier League season away to Everton on 22 August. The failed approach for Camara suggests the club may still be looking to strengthen midfield before competitive action begins.
