Pakistan summons Indian diplomat over border killing of two Pakistanis

What the report says
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that it summoned India’s charge d’affaires to register a strong protest after the reported killing of two Pakistani civilians near the border. According to the ministry, the incident took place on Friday in the Bedian sector along the international border, where it said Indian Border Security Force personnel used lethal force. The statement also said another person was wounded.
Islamabad described the shooting as unprovoked and excessive, and rejected any suggestion that the dead were intruders. The ministry called on India to carry out an immediate, transparent and credible investigation and to take disciplinary and legal action if wrongdoing is found. It also asked New Delhi to share the results of any inquiry with the Pakistani government.
There was no immediate response from India’s government in the article. However, Indian media, citing security sources, reported that border forces had stopped an infiltration attempt. Al Jazeera reported the conflicting accounts without independently verifying either version.
The exchange highlights the continuing sensitivity of the Pakistan-India frontier, where border incidents can quickly become diplomatic disputes. The border between the two nuclear-armed neighbors has long been a source of military tension, with each side frequently accusing the other of cross-border aggression or infiltration attempts.
