Acme Packing Company reported that the Green Bay Packers opened their 2026 training camp Wednesday with several roster and injury questions coming into clearer focus. General manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters before practice that Green Bay plans to use its starters for “a couple series” during the preseason, a notable point as teams often vary widely in how much they expose front-line players before Week 1.

The Packers had listed 11 players on either the physically unable to perform list or the non-football injury list entering camp. According to Acme, left guard Aaron Banks and defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse practiced on Day 1 and were removed from PUP. The team also described defensive lineman Javon Hargrave’s knee issue and long snapper Matt Orzech’s calf issue as not expected to be long-term. Tight end Luke Musgrave’s neck injury was presented as more uncertain, while Tucker Kraft indicated he expects to come off PUP very soon.

Other injury notes included hamstring issues for running back Chris Brooks, offensive tackle Brant Banks, cornerback Keisean Nixon and rookie offensive lineman Jager Burton. Burton left practice but later characterized the move as precautionary, Acme reported. With multiple linemen being eased in or unavailable, Green Bay used a reshuffled first-team offensive line during the session.

On the field, quarterback Jordan Love scored on a goal-line read-option keeper, while several defensive rotations reflected the team’s injury management. Acme noted first-team opportunities for edge rushers Lukas Van Ness and Barryn Sorrell, with others rotating in. Practice ended with undrafted rookie cornerback Marlon Jones returning an interception 99 yards for a touchdown with the third-team defense, adding an early highlight to camp.
