Packers training camp recap Day 1, schedule, practice highlights - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

What the report says
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the Green Bay Packers began training camp Wednesday, July 29, with their first practice at Ray Nitschke Field. The session, the first of 13 practices scheduled to be open to fans over the next month, lasted about 90 minutes and ended shortly after noon. Green Bay is coming off a 9-7-1 season that ended with a wild-card loss to the Chicago Bears after the team reached the NFC playoffs as the seventh seed for a third consecutive year.
Injuries were an immediate focus on Day 1. The Journal Sentinel listed several players not practicing, including All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons, who remains on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from a torn ACL. Tight ends Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave were also sidelined, along with long snapper Matt Orzech and others. Guard Jager Burton, a fifth-round rookie, left practice for the Don Hutson Center and later returned to the sideline without resuming drills.
Among the practice highlights, undrafted rookie cornerback Marlon Jones intercepted quarterback Kyle McCord during a third-and-goal drill. The Journal Sentinel noted Jones’ background as a Vanderbilt player who missed the 2024 season after a stage-3 lymphoma diagnosis before returning in 2025 with his cancer in remission. Linebacker Zaire Franklin, acquired from Indianapolis in an offseason trade, stripped running back MarShawn Lloyd after a Jordan Love dump-off.
The report also noted Jordan Love’s health entering camp, including a rushing touchdown in practice, and newcomer Skyy Moore leading the first punt-return reps. The Packers were scheduled to hold their second camp practice Thursday, July 30, at 10:30 a.m.
