Ozlo’s Sleepbuds 2 build on Bose’s sleep earbud legacy - TechCrunch

What the report says
TechCrunch reported that Ozlo, a sleep-earbuds startup founded by former Bose engineers, has unveiled Sleepbuds 2, its first major hardware update since launching its original device in late 2024. The new model, announced Tuesday, is priced at $279 and is positioned as an upgrade focused on battery life, Bluetooth reliability, sound quality and sleep-related features.
Ozlo was created by Bose veterans N.B. Patil, Brian Mulcahey and Charlie Taylor after Bose exited the sleep earbud category. According to TechCrunch, the founders acquired and licensed Bose Sleepbuds research and intellectual property, making Ozlo’s first product a continuation of that earlier work. The original Ozlo Sleepbuds were designed to be low-profile for overnight wear and included sleep sounds, Bluetooth streaming, passive noise blocking, in-ear alarms and sleep tracking. TechCrunch reported the product now has more than 200,000 customers.
The Sleepbuds 2 increase battery life to 14 hours, compared with about 10 hours on the earlier model, and the charging case can hold enough power for two to three nights. The case also adds a button for playing a sleep sound or snoozing an alarm without using a phone. Ozlo says redesigned wireless components improve range, pairing and connection stability, while a built-in amplifier and personalized tuning modes are intended to improve sound masking and listening quality.
The update also adds a Sleep Shield feature to block calls, alerts, notifications and Bluetooth streaming when a user has not enabled a phone sleep mode. TechCrunch said Ozlo is expanding sleep insights using earbud biometrics and room-condition data from the case, while exploring AI-based tools to interpret sleep patterns. The launch highlights Ozlo’s effort to move beyond preserving Bose’s discontinued product line and build a broader sleep technology platform.
