Over 100 Expectant Mothers in Luuka Receive Mama Kits From Salam Charity

More than 100 expectant mothers in Luuka District, eastern Uganda, received mama kits from Salam Charity Uganda in a distribution aimed at helping them access basic supplies for safe delivery. According to Nile Post, the beneficiaries came from different health centres across the district and were given fully packed kits containing items used during childbirth.

The report said the women welcomed the support, noting that many families struggle to afford the essentials needed for delivery and that some had not previously received such complete maternity packages. Salam Charity Uganda’s team also demonstrated how the items in the kits should be used so the mothers understood their purpose.

Salam Charity Uganda Country Director Abdussalaam Ali Kinobe said the organisation has carried out similar initiatives in other parts of the country, with Luuka chosen this time. He encouraged more supporters to join the effort and urged men to accompany their wives for antenatal care and provide support throughout pregnancy.

Health workers in Luuka said shortages of basic delivery supplies can make childbirth more difficult for mothers and add pressure to staff. They also advised expectant mothers to seek care from qualified health workers and deliver at health facilities, especially because complications during pregnancy or childbirth can place both mothers and babies at risk.
