'Outfought' and 'not good enough' - Robertson on Scotland defeat

What the report says
Scotland captain Andy Robertson said his side were “outfought” and not good enough after a 2-1 defeat by Slovenia in the Nations League at Hampden Park. BBC Sport Football reported that Scotland had led at half-time through Ryan Christie’s close-range backheel, but were exposed defensively after the break as Danijel Sturm and Aljosa Matko scored for the visitors.
Robertson said Scotland failed to repeat the intensity and control they had shown in their previous match, a win over North Macedonia. He suggested Slovenia looked fresher and stronger in the key battles, and said being outworked was especially hard to accept for a Scotland team that may sometimes be short on quality but is expected to compete physically. Head coach Sebastien Pocognoli agreed, saying Scotland did not deserve to win and were not strong enough in duels or clever enough on the ball.
The result was a setback for Pocognoli, who took charge in August after replacing Steve Clarke and has been trying to implement a more aggressive style. BBC Sport’s coverage also noted that Scotland’s recent form has been mixed, with an encouraging draw in Slovenia and a convincing win over North Macedonia offset by a heavy home loss to Switzerland. The defeat leaves questions about Scotland’s tactical shape, defensive gaps and whether the new manager’s approach needs adjustment.
