Oregon reports 2 Cyclospora cases tied to lettuce recall - KPTV

What the report says

KPTV reported that Oregon health officials have identified two Cyclospora infections in residents that may be connected to a wider national outbreak involving recalled pre-shredded iceberg lettuce. According to the Oregon Health Authority, both people had traveled to states included in the recall investigation. The report was published from Portland on July 24.

OHA said the immediate risk to the Oregon public is considered low. The agency has not seen an unusual rise in cyclosporiasis in the state, and the lettuce products under investigation were not reported as distributed in Oregon. KPTV cited state figures showing 23 cases so far this year, compared with 26 in 2025, 30 in 2024, 10 in 2023, eight in 2022 and 14 in 2021.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said the outbreak was initially associated with Taco Bell restaurants, according to KPTV. Federal and state investigators, including the CDC and Food and Drug Administration, have been tracing the lettuce supply chain and interviewing patients about what they ate in the two weeks before symptoms began.

Cyclospora is a parasite that can cause intestinal illness, often linked in outbreaks to contaminated fresh produce. KPTV reported that health officials expect more outbreak-linked cases may be found among people who recently visited affected areas, or if investigators identify additional products connected to the outbreak.
