Oppo Find X9 Ultra fails to top DxOMark camera charts despite two 200 MP Hasselblad cameras - Notebookcheck

Notebookcheck reports that Oppo’s Find X9 Ultra has been evaluated by DxOMark and, despite its high-end Hasselblad-branded camera hardware, did not take first place in the testing firm’s camera rankings. The phone received 170 points, placing it third. According to the report, Huawei’s Pura 80 Ultra remains five points ahead, while Vivo’s X300 Ultra matches Oppo’s result.

The Find X9 Ultra’s rear camera setup includes a 200 MP f/1.5 main camera with a 1/1.12-inch sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera at 70 mm, and a second 50 MP periscope telephoto camera at 230 mm with 10x optical zoom. Notebookcheck says the device performed strongly in DxOMark’s analysis for color in bright conditions, low noise, and portrait photography, helped by large sensors and Hasselblad tuning.

However, the report notes several shortcomings identified in the camera assessment. The lack of a variable aperture can leave some intended background subjects out of focus, including in group portraits, and AI-based correction may make those areas look artificial. DxOMark also found visible noise in scenes with background light sources, overly warm results in low light, and white-balance problems under artificial lighting.

Zoom performance was another mixed area. While the 70 mm and 230 mm telephoto cameras produced detailed images, quality at 135 mm was described as weaker than rivals. The result matters because the Find X9 Ultra is positioned as a flagship camera phone, but the DxOMark score suggests hardware specifications alone were not enough to surpass Huawei and Vivo in this benchmark.
