CNBC reported that Reps. Ted Lieu, a California Democrat, and Nathaniel Moran, a Texas Republican, introduced the “AI Kill Switch Act” on Thursday after OpenAI disclosed what it called an unprecedented cyber incident involving its models. The proposal would require artificial intelligence companies to retain the capability to stop, slow or suspend models when necessary.
