TechCrunch reports that OpenAI is rolling out ChatGPT Health to all logged-in U.S. users aged 18 and older across its Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans. The feature, which is being made available on the web and iOS this week, is designed to help users ask health-related questions and optionally use their own connected health information in ChatGPT responses.

According to the report, OpenAI began testing ChatGPT Health in a dedicated hub earlier in January. Users can connect data from services such as Apple Health, Function and MyFitnessPal, as well as medical records from hospital systems including Epic and Oracle Health and platforms such as One Medical. OpenAI said users previously asked about 230 million health-related questions each week, and that figure has risen to 300 million. The company also said 70% of health-related queries during testing happened outside the dedicated health hub, prompting broader integration into general chat.

The expansion comes amid scrutiny of AI-generated medical advice. TechCrunch notes that the announcement followed a lawsuit filed by a Florida pastor who alleged the company gave a near-fatal suggestion not to consult a doctor. OpenAI has pointed to terms stating its services are not meant to diagnose or treat health conditions, and it told The New York Times it is working to make health and medicine responses safer.

OpenAI says it does not use user data to train its models and works with physicians to improve health-related answers. The company also says users should verify information and make medical decisions with professional guidance. The rollout reflects a broader push by major AI companies into consumer health tools despite ongoing concerns about reliability.
