What the report says

One person has died and several others were injured after a rollercoaster incident at Six Flags Over Georgia, the amusement park near Atlanta, according to BBC reporting based on local police and park statements. Cobb County Police said it was investigating the fatality, but officials did not immediately identify the ride involved or explain how the death occurred.

News footage showed the Goliath rollercoaster stopped partway through its track, with riders being helped off by workers. The BBC said local witnesses described seeing a man ejected from the ride, though those accounts were not independently verified in the report. Another local outlet, 11Alive, quoted a witness who said the person fell onto the roof of a nearby haunted house attraction.

Six Flags Over Georgia said it was deeply saddened by the incident and that its team had responded immediately along with local authorities. Mableton Mayor Michael Owens said city public safety officials were coordinating with police and park security. The investigation was continuing, and officials had not released further details on the cause.

The Goliath coaster opened in 2006 and is one of the park’s major thrill rides. More broadly, the incident comes as Six Flags has faced other safety concerns in recent weeks, including the planned retirement of a rollercoaster in California after injury complaints, according to the BBC.
