CarBuzz reports that Audi has unveiled the 2027 Q9 and performance-oriented SQ9, marking the brand’s first entry into the full-size, three-row luxury SUV class. Shown to media at a preview in Munich, the Q9 is positioned against models such as the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. According to the report, it is Audi’s largest production vehicle to date, at 209 inches long with a 123.5-inch wheelbase.

The Q9 range launches with combustion-only powertrains for the U.S. market. CarBuzz says the standard Q9 uses a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 making 429 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, while the SQ9 gets a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 591 hp and 590 lb-ft. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, with the SQ9 adding a rear-biased setup and electronically controlled locking rear differential. Reported 0-60 mph times are 4.9 seconds for the Q9 and 3.8 seconds for the SQ9, and both are listed with 7,700 pounds of towing capacity.

The report highlights lighting as a major part of the new SUV’s technology package, including Digital Matrix LED headlights, curved OLED taillights with customizable signatures, warning-display functions, and turn-signal projection onto the road surface. The SQ9 also receives distinct exterior details such as larger wheels, wider fenders and quad tailpipes.
