Ugandan singer Maggie Kayima, known as Nabbi Omukazi, has used a recent Facebook post to revisit a long and highly publicised relationship with the late Pastor Augustine Yiga Abizaayo. Sqoop Uganda reported that the post followed a medical appointment in the United States, where Kayima said she again tested negative for HIV. She linked the result to memories of a past period when Yiga told her he was living with HIV and she feared she may also have contracted the virus.

According to the article, the two later tested at Mengo Hospital and at the Joint Clinical Research Centre, with Kayima saying both results showed Yiga was positive and she was negative. The report says their relationship began through Revival Ministries and its music scene, where Kayima performed in Revival Band before the connection developed into romance lasting about eight years. Their story later became public through disputes, accusations and media attention, and Kayima has given differing accounts over time about whether Yiga’s health status or his behaviour led to their breakup.

Sqoop Uganda also says Kayima’s latest comments touched on her time in Kigo Prison, where rumours about her health circulated after she suffered severe nosebleeds. She said prison medical checks also showed she was HIV-negative. The article presents her repeated negative tests as part of a broader personal and spiritual reflection, while noting that the outcome does not challenge how HIV is medically transmitted. Yiga died in 2020, ending a relationship that remained part of Kayima’s public life long after it ended.
