Odongtho, Kauju, Gyezaho and Oluka Among Top Journalists Battling for Parliament Communication Job

What the report says
Parliament has shortlisted nine candidates for the post of Assistant Director, Media and Communication, drawing a mix of journalists and communications specialists into a recruitment process linked to changes in its communications leadership. The list includes Davies Emmanuel Gyezaho, Peter Kauju, Charles Odongtho and Benon Herbert Oluka, alongside Joseph Kaaya, Ramathan Mbago, Vicent Musoke, Bernadette Ndema and Martin Ninsiima.
According to the Nile Post report, the Parliamentary Commission advertised the job on August 12 and closed applications on September 1, 2026. The shortlisted candidates are expected to receive letters with interview dates, venues and times. The role sits within Parliament’s communications directorate, which handles media engagement, public information and communication around legislative work.
The recruitment comes after the interdiction of former communications head Chris Obore, followed by his later release on bail with co-accused in a corruption-related case. Parliament then named veteran communications professional Grace Gidudu as acting director of communication and public affairs while it considers a substantive appointment. The new assistant director will work under that structure.
The shortlisted names include several well-known media figures. Gyezaho is a former Daily Monitor parliamentary reporter; Kauju previously worked in communications at KCCA and Umeme; Odongtho has held roles with Vision Group, UBC and NBS; and Oluka is a former Daily Monitor journalist who now works with the Global Investigative Journalism Network. The process matters because Parliament’s communications office is central to how the institution explains its work to journalists and the public.
