October Love Month: Stanbic Takes 35th Anniversary Customer Engagements to Northern Uganda

What the report says
Stanbic Bank Uganda has extended its 35th anniversary outreach to northern Uganda, holding customer engagement forums in Lira, Arua and Gulu. According to Watchdog Uganda, the meetings were designed to collect feedback, deepen relationships with clients and support efforts to improve banking services. The forums were also linked to the bank’s annual October Love Month campaign, which combines customer listening with community-focused corporate social investment activities.
The bank sent a senior delegation led by Mark Ocitti Ongom, chief executive of Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited, and Sam Fredrick Mwogeza, executive director and head of Personal and Private Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda. Other executives from client coverage, distribution, enterprise banking and customer experience also took part. Ocitti said the bank’s growth in Uganda had been built through partnerships with customers and businesses, and that the forums were meant to better understand client needs, including those of entrepreneurs and self-employed people.
Stanbic also used the engagements to highlight service upgrades across the Northern Corridor. The bank said customers can use channels beyond branches, including ATMs, cash deposit machines, agent banking and the contact centre. Through its sister company SBG Securities, it also offers investment products such as multi-currency unit trusts and treasury bills. Local voices at the forums welcomed the outreach, with entrepreneur Patrick Ogwal praising the bank’s innovation and Arua City Mayor Alionzi Lawrence Dangote noting the importance of collaboration between banks, businesses and local government for jobs and economic growth.
The forums are part of a wider series of customer meetings planned across Uganda during October, signaling a broader push by Stanbic to strengthen service delivery and customer trust.
