Ntungamo leaders endorse Muhoozi ahead of PLU Baraza

Political leaders and members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Ntungamo District have publicly endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031 presidential election, according to Nile Post. The endorsement was made during a mobilisation meeting at the district headquarters that brought together PLU and NRM representatives from all 34 sub-counties and town councils. The gathering also formed part of preparations for a PLU Baraza set for October 17 at Rubaare Playground.

The event is being presented by organisers as a grassroots engagement centred on patriotism, unity and community service. They say the Ntungamo Baraza will also provide medical and legal services, while receiving corruption-related complaints. Joram Muhumuza, the PLU coordinator and host of the planned Baraza, said support for Muhoozi reflects ideas of continuity, peace and anti-corruption. District LC5 chairperson Samuel Muchunguzi Rwakigoba urged leaders to coordinate closely and show strong organisation ahead of the event.

Nile Post also reported that PLU and NRM members described their cooperation as a “Tukopamoja” arrangement, signalling joint mobilisation in the district. The Ntungamo activity fits into a wider PLU effort to build endorsements for Muhoozi across Uganda. More broadly, the development matters because it shows how local political structures are being used to rally support ahead of future national elections, even though the 2031 contest remains several years away.
