NRM’s Namayanja Rallies Greater Masaka Leaders, Calls for Unity Ahead of LC Polls

Watchdog Uganda reported that National Resistance Movement Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja Nsereko has opened the ruling party’s mobilisation drive in the Greater Masaka sub-region before the forthcoming LC I chairperson and Women Council elections. The report says she led a regional meeting on Sunday at Hotel Brovad in Masaka City, attended by NRM MPs, district party chairpersons, Resident District Commissioners, security officials, registrars and other party leaders from the 10 districts in the sub-region.

According to the outlet, the meeting focused on aligning campaign and mobilisation plans and reinforcing NRM structures at village and parish level. Namayanja praised local party leaders for helping the NRM recover support in areas previously held by the opposition, pointing to Kalangala District, where she said internal cooperation helped the party win back the District Woman MP seat.

Namayanja urged NRM leaders to avoid factional disputes and support the party’s official flag bearers in the LC I races. She linked the village elections to government service delivery, saying LC leaders are important to grassroots mobilisation and to the implementation and oversight of the Parish Development Model through parish structures.

Watchdog Uganda said the Masaka engagement is part of a nationwide NRM Secretariat mobilisation campaign for the Women Council and LC I chairperson elections, listed in the report for July 23 and July 28 respectively. The report adds that mobilisation teams were dispatched to regions across Uganda to brief party members on the electoral roadmap and rally backing for NRM candidates.
