What the report says

On3 reported that Notre Dame has announced a multi-year athletics jersey patch sponsorship with SoFi, in a deal tied to one of the most prominent brands in college sports. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed the agreement runs six years and is expected to average $18 million to $20 million per year. The outlet said Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger first reported the development.

Under the agreement, SoFi becomes the official financial services partner of Notre Dame Athletics. On3 reported that the company will be the first non-apparel brand to appear on jersey patches across all Fighting Irish uniforms, making the sponsorship notable both for its value and for its visibility across Notre Dame teams.

Notre Dame athletics director Pete Bevacqua said in the school’s announcement that the partnership aligns with the university’s goal of improving the student-athlete experience. SoFi CEO Anthony Noto also framed the deal around supporting athletes’ long-term opportunities. The partnership includes a new SoFi Champions Scholarship for walk-on athletes, with one men’s and one women’s athlete to be recognized annually for qualities including leadership and service.

The announcement comes as Notre Dame football prepares for the 2026 season. On3 noted that the Fighting Irish went 10-2 in 2025 and did not play in a bowl after missing the College Football Playoff. The deal also reflects the growing commercialization of college athletics, where jersey patches and corporate partnerships are becoming larger revenue sources for major programs.
