Northern Uganda Farm Festival Launched at Tegot Farm Ahead of December Event

The first Northern Uganda Farm Festival has been launched at Tegot Farm in Gulu District, with organisers planning a two-day regional event set for December 11 to 12, 2026. According to Nile Post, the festival will operate under the theme “Kodi Pa Lyec – Seeds of Greatness” and is being positioned as a broader platform that combines agriculture with culture, enterprise and investment.

Founder Beatrice Mao said the aim is to create a meeting point for farmers, cooperatives, agripreneurs, businesses, young people, cultural leaders, investors, financial institutions, development partners, government agencies and local communities. She said the event is meant to help the region reflect on gaps in knowledge, technology, markets and value addition, while also encouraging stronger cooperation across sectors.

The launch took place at Tegot Farm, which the report describes as a working farm that has become a symbol of commercial agriculture and training in the area. Leaders and institutions present, including representatives from Ker Kwaro Acholi and Operation Wealth Creation, expressed support for the idea. They said the festival could help improve livelihoods, promote commercial farming and strengthen regional unity if it develops into a regular annual event.

Nile Post reports that the programme is expected to include exhibitions, live farming activities, food, music, cultural performances and discussions on youth enterprise, technology and market access. The festival’s timing in the December holiday season is also intended to attract farmers, tourists, investors and other visitors who might not attend a conventional agricultural exhibition.
