North Carolina woman missing in Grenada as husband heads to join search - CBS News

What the report says
CBS News reported that Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, a woman from North Carolina, has been reported missing while visiting Grenada, a small island nation in the Caribbean. Citing local authorities and her husband, the report said Waddell was last known to have been at Grand Anse Beach on Wednesday, July 22, according to a social media notice from the Royal Grenada Police Force.
Grenadian police have asked the public to contact authorities with any information about Waddell’s location. Their missing-person notice made a particular appeal to fishermen, boat operators and people living along the island’s southern coastline, asking them to report possible sightings or details that could help the search.
CBS News also reported that Waddell’s husband, Cailen Waddell, posted on Facebook asking others to share the missing-person information and saying he was traveling to Grenada to help look for her. He also shared another photo of his wife, showing her with blonde hair, as part of the effort to spread awareness.
The U.S. State Department told CBS News it was aware of reports involving a missing American citizen in Grenada and directed questions about the case to local law enforcement. Missing-person cases involving U.S. citizens overseas are generally handled primarily by local authorities, while U.S. consular officials may provide assistance to families and monitor developments, but CBS News did not report further details on the search’s progress or the circumstances of Waddell’s disappearance.
