Nine Years of Purpose: Fenna Tujjune CEO Ramonah Honored for Transforming the Lives of Mothers and Children with Disabilities

Watchdog Uganda reported that Ramonah Sarah Olunda Shantal, Chief Executive Officer of Fenna Tujjune and Country Manager of All Green Energy, was presented with a Humanitarian Award at The Queen’s Affair event at Kampala Serena Hotel on Saturday. The recognition was linked to her nearly nine years of work supporting mothers who care for children with disabilities through income-generating and environmentally conscious initiatives.

According to the report, Olunda said the award was her first formal recognition for a journey that began nine years earlier with the aim of creating opportunities for mothers often pushed to the margins, while also improving the lives of children with disabilities. Fenna Tujjune’s main initiative, the Hot Box Project, uses fireless cooking technology as both a livelihood tool and a clean-cooking intervention. Watchdog Uganda reported that the project employs 40 mothers in Uganda, 28 in Kano, Nigeria, and 18 in Mbeya, Tanzania.

The publisher said the initiative is designed to address several challenges at once: limited income for caregivers, stigma faced by families of children with disabilities, dependence on firewood, deforestation, and health risks linked to kitchen smoke. Olunda reportedly emphasized that the programme’s impact is also seen in children who have gained confidence and visibility in their communities.

Olunda dedicated the award to Fenna Tujjune volunteers, the mothers and children supported by the organisation, and the All Green Energy team. She also thanked The Queen’s Affair organizers and pledged continued support from All Green Energy for women-led and community-focused initiatives.
