Nigeria: Zulum Donates Multi-Million-Naira JAMB Zonal HQ, 500-Seat Cbt Centre to Boost North-East Education

AllAfrica, carrying a This Day report dated 24 July 2026, said Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has handed over a newly built Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board zonal headquarters and 500-seat computer-based test centre to support tertiary admissions services in Nigeria’s North-east. The facility, commissioned on Wednesday, is located along the Maiduguri-Dikwa Road and is intended to serve JAMB’s operations across the region’s six states.

According to the report, the project includes an office complex and a dual CBT centre with capacity for 500 candidates at once and more than 2,000 candidates per day. This Day reported that the centre is believed to be the first JAMB zonal office and CBT facility fully financed, constructed and donated by a state government. Zulum presented the project as part of Borno’s wider education rebuilding agenda after years in which insurgency disrupted schooling and public services.

JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede described the intervention as unprecedented for the examination body and said it would expand registration, documentation and testing capacity in the North-east. The report said the facility is expected to reduce travel pressures and delays for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions, especially those in Borno and nearby states.

Zulum also directed the Borno State Ministry of Education to name the new facility after Oloyede, who is described in the report as the outgoing JAMB registrar. Officials at the event included Secretary to the State Government Bukar Tijani, incoming JAMB Registrar Prof. Segun Aina, Acting Chief of Staff Dr. Babagana Mustapha Malumbe and Education Commissioner Lawan Abba Wakilbe.
