What the report says

A new edition of HP’s annual Work Relationship Index suggests that many Nigerian employees are receptive to artificial intelligence in the workplace. According to the report, which was released on September 30 and highlighted by This Day via AllAfrica, more than 70 percent of workers in Nigeria said they were comfortable with AI being deployed in work environments.

The study is based on a global survey of more than 19,000 desk-based workers across 15 countries, and HP said it was intended to give employers a benchmark as organizations in Nigeria and South Africa adapt to workplace change. The report says workers increasingly see AI, transferable skills and side ventures as ways to manage uncertainty and stay resilient in a changing economy.

Among the figures cited, 73 percent of knowledge workers said they would be more likely to remain with a company that invests in their development. The report also says about 69 percent of workers in Nigeria and South Africa are adapting to change rather than waiting for it, and many view technology as a positive force.

HP argued that the findings point to a broader need for employers to pair technology investment with training, trust and better day-to-day work experiences. More generally, the report frames AI adoption as part of a wider shift in how employees build confidence, skills and career flexibility in fast-changing workplaces.
