What the report says

A meeting between former Nigerian Senate President Bukola Saraki and Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki has stirred fresh talk about political shifts in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 elections, according to Daily Trust as republished by AllAfrica. The meeting took place at the headquarters of Seriki’s Kursi Group in Abuja, where Saraki reportedly showed interest in the company’s industrial and mining work.

The report says the timing of the encounter drew attention because Seriki is a prominent member of the APC-linked G15 bloc, a group that emerged in response to the party’s governorship primary that selected Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi as the APC candidate. The group later broadened its consultations under the Otoge Progressives and has been connected to a wider “Rainbow Coalition” involving politicians from different parties and interests.

The article also notes that the political landscape in Kwara has been complicated by defections and rival claims over the G15’s strength. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s allies have said some former supporters have returned to the APC, while G15 figures insist the bloc remains active. The report further links the changes to Senator Saliu Mustapha’s move from the APC to the PDP and his subsequent emergence as the PDP’s Kwara Central senatorial candidate.

Daily Trust said there is no public evidence that Seriki joined Saraki or that any formal alliance was reached, but the meeting has added to speculation about possible realignments in the state.
