Nigeria: Nigerian Soldiers Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims, Arrest 21 Terrorist Suspects

AllAfrica, carrying a Premium Times report attributed to NAN, reported that Nigerian security forces rescued 11 kidnap victims and arrested 21 suspected terrorists, collaborators, logistics suppliers and drug peddlers during coordinated operations in Borno, Zamfara and Kogi states. The operations were carried out between July 21 and 22 under Operation HADIN KAI, Operation Fansan Yamma and Operation MESA, according to official military reports cited in the article.

In Borno, troops reportedly arrested three suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers near New Abbaram Resettlement Village in Bama Local Government Area, with food items said to have been recovered. The report also said two teenage girls who escaped from the Grazah enclave in the Mandara Mountains surrendered to troops in Gwoza. Military engineers separately found and safely destroyed explosive devices on routes including Dambua-Bulabulin-Kumala and Cross Kauwa-Kekeno-Monguno, with fragments kept for analysis.

The report said troops in Monguno detained 12 suspected drug peddlers and recovered substances including cannabis and tramadol. In Zamfara, soldiers under Operation Fansan Yamma engaged armed suspects along the Gambada-Gummi-Sokoto road, after which 11 abducted people and a motorcycle were left behind. In Kogi, security forces arrested a suspected informant allegedly linked to Kachallah Babangida, detained three other suspects in Adavi and Lokoja, and intercepted two alleged logistics couriers carrying supplies.

Military authorities also said search-and-rescue efforts were continuing in Owo, Ondo State, after two people were abducted.
