Nigeria: Nigeria's Oil and Gas Industry Positioned On Global Stage - Ncdmb

What the report says
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) says a new Nigerian Content Fund Compliance Certificate portal will help place the country’s oil and gas upstream sector on a stronger global footing. The remarks were made in Uyo during a sensitisation programme for stakeholders from Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Abia and nearby states, according to Daily Trust as republished by AllAfrica.
Emmanuel Yusuf, managing director of the Nigerian Content Development Fund, said the digital portal is meant to replace a slower manual compliance process. He said it should speed up certificate checks, improve transparency, and make it easier for operators, contractors and partners to confirm that required payments into the fund have been made under Nigeria’s local content law. The portal is also intended to give regulators real-time verification and provide investors and lenders with a clearer record.
NCDMB said the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve efficiency, compliance and access to financing in the sector. In the report, the board linked the fund to wider local content gains, saying Nigerian participation in the industry has risen and that indigenous companies have benefited from financing support. That background helps explain why the new system matters: compliance documentation is tied to access to the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund and other support tools.
The board’s executive secretary, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, was represented at the event and said the programme would also help stakeholders understand the upgraded payment portal and compliance certificate system. The launch reflects a wider shift toward digitising regulatory processes in Nigeria’s energy sector.
