Nigeria: NCDC Takes Over Nasarawa Office, Plans N400m Remodeling

The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has taken over its headquarters complex in Lafia, Nasarawa State, which was donated by the state government, and is preparing a remodeling project estimated at more than N400 million, according to Vanguard via AllAfrica. The commission’s managing director and chief executive, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyi, said the upgrade is intended to provide enough office space and a better working environment as the agency moves from its early setup phase into fuller operations.

Tsenyi said the NCDC, created about a year ago, wants to begin development work and recruitment soon, so the headquarters needs to be ready for staff. He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the commission, describing it as a response to long-standing demands from the North-Central geopolitical zone. He praised Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for providing the facility and for donating another building with more than 100 offices.

The remodeling is scheduled to cover parts of the managing director’s office and is expected to be completed in 16 weeks, or about four months. The contractor, Geo Data World Service Limited, said equipment was being moved to the site and expressed confidence in meeting the timeline.

More broadly, the report reflects the early institutional buildup of the NCDC, a new federal development commission focused on the North-Central region. If delivered on schedule, the upgraded office would support staff recruitment and the launch of programs across the zone.
