Nigeria: Jos - Muslim Ummah Holds Special Prayer Over Rising Insecurity

What the report says
A Muslim group in Jos, Plateau State, has held a special prayer session in response to rising insecurity and other difficulties affecting the state and Nigeria, according to Daily Trust via AllAfrica. The event was organized by the Jos Muslim Ummah Committee on Peace, Security and Stability (JOMUPSEC) and took place at the Jos Central Mosque. It brought together Islamic scholars, community leaders, members of the Muslim community and other guests.
The gathering included the recitation of the complete Qur'an and was led by the Chief Imam of the Jos Central Mosque, Sheikh Ghazali Isma'ila Adam. He prayed for peace, unity, stability, progress and relief from hardship, while also asking for the safe release of kidnapped victims and for peaceful elections. He likewise offered prayers for Governor Caleb Mutfwang and other public officials, urging them to act with fairness, wisdom and justice.
JOMUPSEC chairman Alh. Sani Mu'azu said the prayer session was meant to seek divine help for programs aimed at promoting peace and progress in Plateau State and across Nigeria. Deputy Chief Imam Sheikh Nasir Alfalaki praised the gathering as a show of unity and peaceful engagement. The prayer came a day after a Muslim stakeholders' roundtable focused on renewed violence and worsening security in Plateau, underscoring the concern many local leaders continue to express about the situation.
