Nigeria: Gunmen Kill Four in Plateau Community Despite Curfew

What the report says
Four people were killed when gunmen attacked Sabon Angwa community near Bet/Zat in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Thursday night, according to Premium Times, which was carried by AllAfrica. The report said the attackers entered the area around 8 p.m. and fired on residents, even though a curfew was in force in parts of the state to curb insecurity.
A local resident, Bulus Jok, said the gunmen shot indiscriminately for some time, causing panic and leaving four people dead. He also said an early warning had reportedly been sent to the relevant authorities a day before the assault. The article said those remarks could not be independently verified by the publication.
The Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the attack and condemned the killings, calling for stronger security presence and quicker response to intelligence in vulnerable communities. Security officials had not publicly confirmed the incident at the time of filing, according to the report.
The episode adds to continuing violence in parts of Plateau State, where communities have faced repeated attacks in recent years. More broadly, curfews and other security measures have been used in the state to try to limit violence, but this case raises fresh questions about how effective those steps are in protecting residents.
