Nigeria’s Federal Government has endorsed the launch of MyCityApp, a city-discovery and tourism platform meant to place festivals, concerts and other lifestyle events on one digital calendar. According to Premium Times, the platform was introduced on Monday at the Ember2Remember National Stakeholders’ Conference in Victoria Island, Lagos, where the wider 100-Day Tourism Calendar also began. The initiative is focused on Nigeria’s September-to-December festive period and is intended to support job creation, investment and growth in the tourism and creative sectors.

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, said the seasonal surge in travel and spending could be better organized and promoted to generate more economic value. She argued that visitors feed multiple industries, including aviation, transport, hotels, restaurants, entertainment, retail, technology and local communities. MyCityApp chief executive Ifeoma Chukwu said the platform could help move Nigeria toward a larger tourism economy and pointed to international examples to show that the target is ambitious but possible.

Organizers are asking state governments, event planners, hospitality businesses and other stakeholders to upload eligible activities to the calendar, including festivals, exhibitions, cultural celebrations, sporting events and conferences. The stated goal is to create a single platform for audiences in Nigeria and abroad to discover events, including members of the diaspora. The conference drew officials and private-sector participants from Lagos, Enugu and federal agencies, underscoring the effort to link tourism planning with broader economic policy.
