Nigeria: Four Killed in Fresh Plateau Attacks

Premium Times, as distributed by AllAfrica, reported that four people were killed in fresh attacks across four communities in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria, over a three-day period. The incidents were said to have taken place in Kikyau, Larkas, Ntul and Kinat, with one other resident seriously injured. The Mwaghavul Development Association, speaking through its public affairs director, said the latest killing occurred in Kinat on the night of September 12, 2026.

According to the group, the victims included Katbam Titus, 29, in Kinat; Geoffrey Gumut, 55, in Kikyau; and Pius Dachen, 50, and Zadok Irmiya, 25, in Ntul. It also said Danjuma Kyesle, 45, was attacked with a machete in Larkas and remained under medical care. The statement alleged that the violence came soon after a security meeting involving the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division commander and Mwaghavul and Fulani leaders.

The group urged security agencies to investigate the attacks, identify those responsible and bring them to justice. It also asked state and federal authorities to strengthen protection in vulnerable communities and examine claims that security personnel were present during the Larkas incident. Premium Times said it could not independently verify some of the related claims about additional killings elsewhere in Plateau State, and police reaction was not available at the time of publication. The report comes amid continuing concern over recurring violence linked by residents and advocates to broader farmer-herder tensions in the state.
