Nigeria: Fake Professorship - University Moves Against Kila, Removes Him From Website

What the report says
Michael and Cecilia Ibru University in Nigeria has removed all public references to its pro-chancellor, Anthony Kila, from its website after a Premium Times investigation alleged that he had falsely presented himself as a professor. The change was visible in a review of the site around 7 p.m. on Monday, when his name, profile and photos were no longer listed, according to the report published by Premium Times and distributed by AllAfrica.
The university had previously displayed Kila’s details alongside those of founder Cecilia Ibru and Vice-Chancellor Ibiyinka Fuwape. Premium Times said the institution has not yet issued a public response to the findings, though the vice-chancellor indicated that the council would meet and that an official statement would follow.
The investigation said Kila has for years claimed professorial status in public settings and on television, but found no evidence that he received the academic rank. It also reported that the European Centre for Advanced and Professional Studies, which Kila said awarded him the title, could not be verified through company, online or other records. Separately, the European Commission body that oversees Jean Monnet actions reportedly disowned any link to a Jean Monnet professorship for Kila. The matter matters because it raises questions about credential checks, governance and public trust in university leadership.
