The Enugu State Government has rejected a social media report claiming it was selling assets linked to the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS), the Enugu State Water Corporation, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and the state liaison office in Lagos. In a statement reported by Premium Times and distributed by AllAfrica, Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development Nathaniel Urama said the message did not come from the state government or the finance ministry.

According to the clarification, the planned notice was about disposing of certain unserviceable items at those government locations, not selling the institutions, buildings or facilities themselves. The government said the items are no longer useful and would be handled in line with applicable laws and due process. It also said any interested bidders would need to obtain details from the Ministry of Finance and submit offers through the proper procedure.

The statement was issued on Wednesday, 27 August, and the government urged the public to ignore the circulating claim. Urama also called on media organizations and members of the public to verify government announcements through official channels before sharing them, warning against misinformation and deliberate distortion of public information.
