Members of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kebbi State held prayers on Saturday night at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, asking for Governor Nasir Idris to win re-election in 2027. The gathering involved the state CAN chairman, Bishop Ayuba Kanta Yafi, and representatives from the state’s 21 local government areas, according to Leadership’s report carried by AllAfrica.

The bishop said the prayers were meant to seek divine support for Idris’s bid for a second term. He also praised the governor for what he described as support for the Christian community, including land provision, financial help during festive periods, and completion of CAN secretariat projects. The report also noted his commendation of the state commissioner for religious affairs, Arc Sani Aliyu, for helping address religious tensions.

Bishop Yafi further pointed to development projects under the Idris administration, especially the Koko-Mahuta-Dabai road, which he said had been left unfinished by previous governments. He urged the governor to keep working closely with religious groups to promote unity and harmony.

Idris thanked the CAN members and said the timing of the prayers was significant as politicians seek office ahead of the 2027 elections. He also promised to maintain a cordial relationship between his government and religious organizations.
