Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said the president’s plane was expected to land in Lagos on Tuesday evening before he continued to Abuja later.

The report said Tinubu planned to begin his return in Lagos to mark the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, the symbol of Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle. It added that he was due to attend a film premiere in Lagos on Independence Day that honors Abiola, who won the June 1993 election that was later annulled.

The article also said Tinubu would hold meetings with political leaders and associates in Lagos over several days as part of preparation for the 2027 elections. After that, he was expected to return to the capital.
